Swedbank AB (publ) is a Swedish universal bank founded in 1820 and headquartered in Sundbyberg, Sweden. It provides retail and corporate banking services to customers across Sweden, the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Norway, Finland, Denmark, Luxembourg, the United States, and China.
The company operates through four reporting segments: Swedish Banking, Baltic Banking, Corporates and Institutions, and Premium and Private Banking. Its product portfolio spans savings and investment solutions (mutual funds, pension savings, asset management), financing (residential, consumer, corporate, leasing, trade finance, factoring), payments and card services, capital markets and trading, insurance, mortgage lending, and private banking. It also offers internet and mobile banking channels.
As a Nordic-Baltic retail-focused regional bank under the GICS Regional Banks sub-industry, Swedbank follows a universal banking model that combines mass-market deposit-taking and lending with private banking, institutional asset management, and corporate and investment banking services. The company was previously named ForeningsSparbanken AB before adopting its current name in September 2006.
