Wallenius Wilhelmsen ASA is a Norway-based global logistics and transportation company operating through three segments: Shipping Services, Logistics Services, and Government Services. The company offers ship management, insurance brokerage, agency, freight and liner services, and marine products, alongside ocean transport of RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) cargo, breakbulk, vehicles, and high and heavy equipment. It complements these ocean services with vehicle and equipment processing centers, inland distribution, and terminal operations, serving a diverse customer base across the automotive, construction, mining, energy, rail, and other industrial sectors. The group operates a fleet of 127 vessels across 15 trade routes and has been headquartered in Lysaker, Norway, since its founding in 1861.
The company sits within the Marine Transportation sub-industry of the Industrials sector, a space characterized by high capital intensity, long-lived vessel assets, and exposure to global trade and freight-rate cycles. Its blended business model combines ocean shipping with contract-based logistics services, and its Government Services segment reflects the segment of the marine transport market that handles defense and government cargo contracts alongside commercial work.
- Global auto export volumes drive RoRo shipping demand
- Government Services revenue grows on defense logistics contracts
- Bunker fuel costs pressure ocean shipping segment margins
