Tompkins Financial Corporation (TMP) is a U.S. financial holding company that provides commercial and consumer banking, leasing, trust and investment management, financial planning, wealth management, and insurance services. The company operates through two reportable segments: Banking and Wealth Management.
On the banking side, TMP accepts deposits (checking, savings, time deposits, IRAs) and originates a broad loan portfolio spanning commercial real estate, construction, commercial and industrial, agriculture, residential mortgage, home equity, and consumer lending, including indirect auto financing and overdraft lines. It also offers letters of credit, sweep accounts, treasury/cash management tools, and digital banking services. The Wealth Management segment delivers trust and estate services, financial and tax planning, insurance brokerage (property & casualty, life, disability, long-term care), and employee benefit consulting, serving individuals, corporate executives, small business owners, and high-net-worth clients.
TMP is classified within the GICS Regional Banks sub-industry, a business model in which revenue is primarily generated from net interest income (the spread between loan yields and deposit costs) and supplemented by fee-based services such as wealth management and insurance commissions. Founded in 1836 and headquartered in Ithaca, New York, the company operates as a community-oriented regional bank listed on the NYSE MKT.
