Yum! Brands, Inc. is a multinational quick service restaurant (QSR) operator headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, with operations spanning the United States, China, and international markets. The company operates through four segments: KFC Division, Taco Bell Division, Pizza Hut Division, and Habit Burger & Grill Division, each specializing in distinct food categories including chicken, Mexican-style cuisine, pizza, and chargrilled burgers and sandwiches.
The company generates revenue primarily through an asset-light franchise model, in which independent operators license the brand and pay royalties and fees, while the parent company retains ownership of intellectual property and provides brand, marketing, and operational support. Yum! Brands was originally incorporated in 1997 and was formerly known as TRICON Global Restaurants before adopting its current name in May 2002.
