Description: TRIN Trinity Capital

Trinity Capital Inc. (NYSE: TRIN) is a business development company (BDC) founded in 2008 and headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, with additional offices in California. The firm provides financing solutions including term loans, equipment financing, and private equity-related investments, organized across five verticals: tech lending, equipment financing, life sciences, warehouse lending, and sponsor finance.

Operating on an industry-agnostic basis, Trinity Capital invests in growth-stage companies across a diverse range of sectors, including aerospace, software, clean technology, energy, life sciences, semiconductors, robotics, transportation, and consumer and retail. The company went public on the NYSE in January 2021 and is classified within the Financials sector under Asset Management & Custody Banks.

As a BDC, Trinity Capital operates under the Investment Company Act of 1940, a regulatory framework that requires such entities to distribute the majority of their taxable earnings to shareholders while primarily lending to or investing in privately held or thinly traded U.S. middle-market companies. The firms focus on private credit positions it within an asset class that has expanded as borrowers increasingly seek financing alternatives outside of traditional banking channels.
