SPGM is a passively managed exchange-traded fund that invests at least 80% of its total assets in the securities of its underlying index and in depositary receipts based on those securities. The index is designed to measure the combined equity market performance of developed and emerging markets, giving the fund broad exposure to global equities through a single U.S.-listed vehicle.
The index is constructed using a free float-adjusted, market capitalization-weighted methodology. This approach excludes shares that are not available for public trading (such as insider holdings) and assigns greater weight to larger companies, meaning the funds performance is driven most heavily by the worlds biggest publicly traded firms.
