Description: RAVI Ready Access Variable

The FlexShares Ready Access Variable Income Fund (RAVI) is an exchange-traded fund that invests primarily in short-term fixed-income instruments, allocating at least 80% of its total assets to bonds and other debt securities issued by both U.S. and non-U.S. public and private sector entities. The fund maintains a dollar-weighted average portfolio maturity of normally two years or less, positioning it within the ultrashort bond category. Up to 20% of its total assets may be directed to emerging markets issuers, providing some geographic diversification within a predominantly short-duration mandate.

As an ultrashort bond ETF, RAVI operates in the fixed-income segment of the asset management industry, offering investors a vehicle designed to generate yield with relatively low interest rate sensitivity compared to longer-duration bond funds. Fixed-income ETFs are pooled investment products that trade on stock exchanges like individual stocks, giving investors liquid, intraday access to diversified bond exposure without the need to buy individual securities directly.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • Fed rate cuts compress short-term yields
  • Short-term corporate spreads tighten on benign default outlook
