Description: PPA Aerospace & Defense

The Invesco Aerospace & Defense ETF (PPA) is a U.S.-listed, non-diversified exchange-traded fund that tracks an underlying index composed of common stocks of companies deemed systematically important to the U.S. defense sector. The fund commits at least 90% of its total assets to securities within this index, which targets firms involved in the development, manufacture, operation, and support of U.S. defense, military, national/homeland security, and government space operations. Launched in 2005 and classified within the Industrials category, PPA is structured as a mid-cap fund.

The U.S. defense and aerospace industry is characterized by a concentrated group of prime contractors that supply major weapons systems, platforms, and services to federal agencies, including the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and government space programs such as NASA and the U.S. Space Force. As a non-diversified fund, PPA holds a more concentrated portfolio than diversified ETFs, which can increase exposure to the performance and risks of individual holdings within the defense supply chain.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • US defense budget increases lift contractor revenues
  • Geopolitical tensions drive allied military spending higher
  • Commercial aerospace recovery accelerates Boeing supplier orders
