PIMCO Enhanced Short Maturity Active ETF (MINT) is an actively managed ultrashort bond fund that invests at least 80% of its net assets in a diversified portfolio of Fixed Income Instruments, including bonds and debt securities issued by U.S. and non-U.S. public- and private-sector entities. The funds average portfolio duration typically does not exceed one year and is adjusted based on PIMCOs market outlook, allowing the manager to respond actively to changing interest rate conditions rather than tracking a passive benchmark.
As an ultrashort bond ETF listed on the NYSE since November 2009 and categorized within the ultrashort bond segment, MINT is designed for investors seeking income with minimal interest rate risk, since sub-one-year duration results in very low sensitivity to rate movements. PIMCO, the funds issuer, is one of the worlds largest specialized fixed income asset managers, and the Active designation in the funds name reflects that holdings and duration positioning are driven by portfolio manager discretion rather than index replication.
- Fed rate cuts compress short-term bond yields and NAV
- Money market funds and T-bills compete for ultrashort investors
- Credit spreads widen on short-term corporate debt holdings
