Manulife Financial Corporation is a Canadian-based diversified financial services provider operating across the United States, Canada, Asia, and other international markets. It is classified within the Life & Health Insurance sub-industry of the Financials sector and reports through three business segments: Wealth and Asset Management Businesses, Insurance and Annuity Products, and Corporate and Other.

The Wealth and Asset Management segment serves retirement, retail, and institutional clients through affiliated agents and brokers, independent securities firms, financial advisors, pension consultants, and banks. The Insurance and Annuity Products segment offers individual life insurance, long-term care insurance, annuities, and deposit and credit products, distributed via insurance agents, brokers, banks, financial planners, and direct marketing. Life insurers typically allocate premiums across long-duration and alternative assets to match the timing and inflation sensitivity of their policyholder obligations.

The Corporate and Other segment includes property and casualty reinsurance, run-off reinsurance operations (variable annuities and accident and health), and the companys timberland and agricultural portfolios-an alternative-asset class insurers use to diversify returns and back long-dated liabilities. Manulife also engages in investment counseling, mutual fund and portfolio management, insurance agency, broker-dealer, fund management, and integrated banking services. The company was incorporated in 1887 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
