ILTB is a passively managed exchange-traded fund that tracks an index of U.S. dollar-denominated taxable bonds, including both investment-grade and high yield issues, with remaining maturities of more than ten years. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in the indexs component securities, as well as To-Be-Announced (TBA) mortgage-backed securities that closely mirror the indexs holdings. TBA trades are common in the U.S. agency mortgage-backed securities market and allow fund managers to gain exposure to specific maturities of mortgage pools before the underlying loans are assigned.
As a long-duration bond ETF, ILTBs portfolio is generally more sensitive to changes in interest rates than shorter-term bond funds, since bond prices and yields move inversely and longer maturities amplify this effect. The fund provides investors with one-trade access to a diversified mix of U.S. long-term corporate and government-related debt through a single ticker.
