The iShares IBDZ ETF tracks a U.S. dollar-denominated, investment-grade corporate bond index comprising securities issued by both U.S. and non-U.S. corporate issuers. To qualify for inclusion, bonds must have at least $300 million in outstanding face value. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index and operates as a non-diversified fund.
As a target maturity ETF, IBDZ holds bonds scheduled to mature in a specified year, at which point the fund is typically wound down and principal returned to shareholders. This structure provides investors with a defined maturity date, similar to holding individual bonds, while offering ETF-level liquidity. iShares is the ETF brand of BlackRock, the worlds largest asset manager.
