Description: HUN Huntsman

Huntsman Corporation (NYSE: HUN) is a global manufacturer of diversified organic chemical products operating through three segments: Polyurethanes, Performance Products, and Advanced Materials. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, the company went public in February 2005 and is classified within the GICS Materials sector under the Diversified Chemicals sub-industry, with a mid-cap market capitalization of approximately $2.1 billion.

The Polyurethanes segment produces MDI, polyols, thermoplastic polyurethane, and related co-products such as aniline and benzene. The Performance Products segment focuses on amines and catalysts, while the Advanced Materials segment supplies epoxy, phenoxy, acrylic, polyurethane, and acrylonitrile-butadiene-based polymer formulations. Together, the portfolio serves a broad set of end markets, including automotive, aerospace, construction, electronics, packaging, oil and gas, footwear, furniture, power generation, and medical appliances. Huntsman distributes its products globally through a network of third-party distributors and agents, supplementing this with pre- and post-sales technical service support for customers.

As a diversified chemicals producer, Huntsmans revenue and margins are typically exposed to the cyclical pricing of commodity feedstocks and downstream chemical demand, particularly within housing, automotive, and industrial end markets. The companys segment structure reflects a balance between higher-volume polyurethane commodity chemicals and higher-margin specialty formulations used in adhesives, coatings, and electronics.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • MDI oversupply pressures polyurethane selling prices globally
  • Aerospace recovery boosts Advanced Materials volumes and margins
  • European industrial demand softness weighs on overall volumes
