The First Trust Technology AlphaDEX® Fund (FXL) is a US-listed exchange-traded fund that seeks to track a modified equal-dollar weighted index drawn from the technology sector of the Russell 1000® Index. The fund applies First Trusts proprietary AlphaDEX® quantitative selection methodology, which screens and ranks stocks using multifactor criteria (such as growth and value metrics) to identify holdings that may outperform traditional market-cap-weighted benchmarks. The fund commits at least 90% of its net assets to the securities in this underlying index, and was launched in May 2007 with a portfolio tilted toward the small-cap end of the US technology universe.
