The fund primarily holds investment grade debt securities but may allocate up to 30% of its total assets to high yield securities, as rated by Moodys, S&P, or Fitch. The fund may also use derivatives such as forwards, options, futures, and swap agreements to gain exposure to these instruments.
Unlike most bond ETFs that passively track an index, BOND is actively managed by PIMCO, one of the largest global fixed income investment managers, which gives the portfolio managers flexibility to adjust duration, credit quality, and sector allocations based on market conditions.
