Description: BOAT SonicShares Global Shipping

The SonicShares Global Shipping ETF (BOAT) is a passively managed, rules-based ETF that seeks to track an index of companies engaged in the global water transportation industry. Under normal circumstances, at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) are invested in Global Shipping Companies as defined by the index. The fund may also hold securities or other investments outside the index if the adviser believes they will help the fund track the index more closely. The fund is non-diversified, meaning it may concentrate its holdings in a smaller number of issuers than a diversified fund.

Water transportation - which includes container shipping, dry bulk carriers, tankers, and roll-on/roll-off vessels - is the dominant mode of global trade, carrying the vast majority of world merchandise by volume. Shipping companies typically generate revenue from freight rates charged per ton or per container transported, making their earnings highly sensitive to global demand cycles, fuel costs, and fleet capacity.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • Red Sea disruptions lift container shipping rates
  • IMO emissions regulations raise fleet compliance costs
  • Global trade volumes contract on tariff uncertainty
