Univest Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: UVSP) is a U.S. bank holding company that operates Univest Bank and Trust Co. and conducts its business through three core segments: Banking, Wealth Management, and Insurance. Its Banking segment serves individuals, businesses, municipalities, and non-profit organizations with deposit services, loan origination, mortgage banking, and equipment lease financing. The Wealth Management segment provides investment advisory, financial planning, trust, and brokerage services to private clients and institutional accounts, while the Insurance segment operates as a full-service brokerage offering commercial and personal property/casualty coverage, employee benefits, and HR consulting.
As a regional bank, Univest follows a community banking model, generating revenue primarily from net interest income on loans and deposits, supplemented by non-interest fee income from its wealth and insurance operations-a diversification strategy common among mid-sized regional banks seeking to reduce dependence on spread-based earnings. Founded in 1876 and headquartered in Souderton, Pennsylvania, the company was renamed from Univest Corporation of Pennsylvania to Univest Financial Corporation in January 2019.
- Net interest margin pressured by rising deposit costs
