Power Integrations, Inc. (POWI) is a U.S.-based semiconductor company that designs, manufactures, and markets analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits focused on high-voltage power conversion. The company offers AC-to-DC power conversion solutions for output levels up to approximately 500 watts, serving applications across consumer electronics, appliances, LED lighting, utility meters, and industrial systems, as well as high-power applications including solar and wind energy systems, electric locomotives, and high-voltage DC transmission. Its product portfolio includes the InnoSwitch family (including variants for electric vehicles), SCALE and SCALE-2 high-voltage gate-driver products for IGBTs and silicon-carbide MOSFETs, SCALE-iDriver for EV powertrain and charging, and motor-driver ICs used in appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and circulation pumps.
The company sells globally to original equipment manufacturers and merchant power supply manufacturers through direct sales, independent representatives, and distributors across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Power Integrations was incorporated in 1988, is headquartered in San Jose, California, and has been listed on NASDAQ since December 1997.
The company operates in the analog and mixed-signal semiconductor segment, a part of the broader Information Technology sector that supplies components bridging the physical and digital world. High-voltage power conversion is a strategically important niche, benefiting from secular demand for electric vehicles, renewable energy infrastructure, and energy-efficient consumer and industrial electronics, where stringent efficiency and size standards are increasingly required by regulators and end customers.
- Electric vehicle adoption accelerates InnoSwitch and gate-driver revenue growth
- Consumer appliance and smartphone weakness pressures core AC-DC segment
- Competition from Monolithic Power and Texas Instruments pressures pricing and margins
