Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. (MPWR) is a U.S.-based semiconductor company that designs and supplies power electronics solutions for a broad range of end markets, including storage and computing, enterprise data, automotive, communications, consumer, and industrial applications. Founded in 1997 and headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, the company sells its products globally, with a notable presence across China, Taiwan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe, Japan, and the United States, reaching customers primarily through third-party distributors and value-added resellers.
The companys product portfolio centers on power management technologies, including DC-to-DC and AC-to-DC converters, MOSFET drivers, power management integrated circuits (ICs), and current limit switches and lighting control products. These components are used in applications such as cloud-based and on-premises CPU servers, AI systems, memory and storage, notebooks, infotainment, home appliances, network infrastructure, and satellite communications. As a fabless analog semiconductor specialist, MPWR focuses on chip design and relies on third-party foundries for wafer fabrication, a widely adopted operating model in the analog and power semiconductor segment that helps limit capital expenditure while supporting scalable, high-margin product development.
- AI server demand drives DC-DC power IC revenue growth
- Automotive electrification expands power management IC market share
- China revenue concentration exposes MPWR to geopolitical tariff risk
