Description: INDY India 50

The iShares India 50 ETF (INDY) is a U.S.-listed exchange-traded fund launched in November 2009 that tracks the performance of the 50 largest companies by free-float market capitalization trading on the Indian securities markets. Free-float weighting means only shares available for public trading are counted, excluding promoter and insider holdings, which is the standard methodology used by major Indian indices such as the Nifty 50.

Under normal conditions, the fund invests at least 80% of its assets in the component securities of its underlying index, or in instruments with substantially identical economic characteristics. The fund is classified as non-diversified, meaning it may concentrate a larger portion of its assets in a smaller number of holdings compared to diversified funds, a structure common among single-country ETFs that focus on a concentrated basket of large-cap equities.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • Indian rupee depreciation pressures USD returns on ETF holdings
  • RBI rate cuts and FII inflows boost large-cap valuations
  • Oil price spikes widen India current account deficit risks
