Commerce Bancshares, Inc. (CBSH) is a U.S. bank holding company headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, founded in 1865. Through its subsidiary Commerce Bank, the company provides retail, mortgage, commercial, investment, trust, and asset management services to individuals and businesses, organized into three reporting segments: Retail Banking, Commercial, and Wealth. The Retail Banking segment covers consumer deposits, consumer lending (including auto, marine, RV, and home equity loans), real estate loans, and debit/credit card products; the Commercial segment delivers corporate lending, leasing, treasury/cash management, merchant and commercial card services, and securities safekeeping; and the Wealth segment provides trust, estate planning, investment management, brokerage, and private banking.
As a mid-cap regional bank within the Financials sector, CBSH operates a diversified, multi-segment model typical of larger super-regional institutions, combining traditional deposit-taking and lending with fee-generating wealth and capital markets services. The company also offers private equity, insurance, specialty lending, and digital banking channels, and has been publicly traded since its 1984 IPO.
