Nordea Bank Abp is a Nordic financial services group headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, serving retail, corporate, and institutional customers across Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark. The company operates through four main segments: Personal Banking, Business Banking, Large Corporates & Institutions, and Asset & Wealth Management. Its business model combines traditional branch-based services with digital channels including mobile banking, online meetings, and phone-based advisory, reflecting the Nordic retail banking sectors high degree of digital adoption and customer self-service.
The product portfolio spans deposits and loans, payments and cash management, cards, working capital and trade finance solutions, leasing, factoring, hire purchase, and other asset-based financing. On the capital markets side, Nordea provides investment banking, securities services, and corporate advisory. Through its Asset & Wealth Management franchise, it offers investment funds, discretionary portfolio management, equity trading, pension accounts, as well as life insurance and pension products, covering the full savings and retirement value chain.
Founded in 1820, Nordea is one of the largest universal banks in the Nordics and is classified within the regional banks sub-industry of the financials sector. As a systemically important bank operating in multiple EEA jurisdictions, it is subject to European banking supervision (SSM/SREP) and consolidated capital, liquidity, and reporting requirements applicable to large cross-border banking groups in the EU.
