Description: FLS FLSmidth & Co.

FLSmidth & Co. A/S is a Denmark-based supplier of flowsheet technology and service solutions to the global mining industry, founded in 1882 and headquartered in Copenhagen. It operates through three segments-Service, Products, and Pumps, Cyclones & Valves (PC&V)-offering a broad portfolio that includes mineral processing and crushing equipment (hydrocyclones, crushers, mills, flotation cells), filtration and separation systems, kilns and dryers, pumps and valves, laboratory and process automation equipment, as well as consumables, spare parts, digital services, mining education, and field services. The company serves customers across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, and was renamed from FLS Industries to FLSmidth & Co. A/S in January 2005.

Business model context: FLSmidth follows an integrated flowsheet model, combining capital equipment sales with recurring aftermarket revenue from spare parts, consumables, and service contracts-an approach that ties customer outcomes (throughput, recovery, energy efficiency) to long-term service relationships across the mine lifecycle.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • Copper demand from energy transition lifts mining equipment orders
  • Service segment shift drives higher margin recurring revenue
  • Mining capex cycle recovery boosts Products and PC&V segment growth
