ChemoMetec A/S is a Danish company that develops, manufactures, and sells automated cell counting and analysis instruments, serving customers in the United States, Canada, Europe, and other international markets. Its products are used across cell and gene therapy, cancer and stem cell research, pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, and quality control in food and animal reproduction applications. The core product line is the NucleoCounter family of image cytometers and cell analyzers, complemented by the SP-100 sperm cell counter and the XcytoMatic 40, with additional instruments in development. The company also generates revenue from consumables such as cassettes, reagents, lysis buffers, and slides, along with accessories, software, and service and validation plans. ChemoMetec was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Allerød, Denmark.
As a Life Sciences Tools & Services company within the Health Care sector, ChemoMetec operates a classic instrument-plus-consumables business model, where the sale of analyzers is supported by recurring demand for proprietary cassettes and reagents required to run each test. Its customer base spans pharmaceutical manufacturers, biotech and academic researchers, agricultural breeding operations, and food and beverage producers, giving it exposure to both regulated life sciences end markets and broader industrial quality control applications.
- Cell and gene therapy demand fuels instrument sales growth
- Recurring consumables revenue mix expansion supports high margins
- Biotech R&D funding weakness pressures capital equipment orders
