The JPMorgan BetaBuilders Developed Asia Pacific ex-Japan ETF (BBAX) is a passively managed exchange-traded fund that tracks a market-cap-weighted index of developed Asia Pacific equities outside Japan. Under its core policy, the fund commits at least 80% of its assets to securities held in the underlying index, which is designed to capture roughly 85% of the free-float-adjusted market capitalization of each eligible country or region, resulting in exposure primarily to large- and mid-cap companies listed on primary exchanges across markets such as Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea.
Launched in August 2018 and listed in the U.S., BBAX falls within the Pacific/Asia ex-Japan equity category and operates with a mid-cap profile. As an ETF, it uses the in-kind creation/redemption mechanism typical of passive funds, allowing authorized participants to exchange baskets of securities for shares, which generally helps keep trading costs and tracking error low relative to the underlying benchmark.
